Camping at Lambertsbay for the weekend

Bathing West Coast style
Catching a fish in the rock pool, with Garth and Marionelle- his awesome Godparents
Our campsite
We had such a special weekend, camping with Garth and Marionelle, along the coast just north of Lambertsbay (on what i have since worked out was once my great great grandfather's farm). The water was unusually warm and Marionelle and I headed down to the rock pools to bath and wash our hair- it was loads of fun till something crab like bit the mole on my back- we both leaped out screaming and discovered the culprit was a little fish- that thought it had caught a worm! It was Nina's first camping trip at 3 months old she did very well and slept both nights. Arden was ecstatic to be sharing a tent with Ernst. It was so nice to get away from the city, including running water, electricity and toilets- and just be outdoors with the constant sound of the sea and company of amazing friends.
Arden starts playschool
Arden has started playschool- Smartsprogs- 2 mornings a week. He seems to be loving it, we've had no tears yet!
Sheila (his teacher) took all the Smartsprogs for their first outing of the year- to go and see the Queen Mary which has been docking in the Cape Town harbor. The kids were all super excited to see such an enormous boat, except one little boy (Cameron) who burst into tears when his mom said he couldn't actually go on board (he's the one weeping in his mom's arms)

Christmas!
Arden checking out Father Christmas... He worked very hard handing out all the presents and helping each person unwrap theirs- it was quite a job and needless to say, he was too tired to open some of his own presents towards the end- just wanted to be left in peace to play with the ones he had already opened! One of his presents was a beautiful red bike from Oupa and Ouma.
Lara and Peter visit for the holiday
Supper at Willoughby's
Wine tasting at Rust en Vrede
We also got to know Andrew (Sarah's new boyfriend) better. He braved a round of golf with Ernst and Peter and joined us for some family time.

Happiness is... being oblivious of your double chin!
Carol Service at Green Point Park
Our church hired Green Point Park for the carol service. In true Cape Town style, we picnicked and sang in the wind, which did nothing to dampen a beautiful evening.

Arden 'shaving' with Pappa
The calm after the storm
Last time with Cindy, Tai and Olivia before they headed to Natal where they are now living. We are already missing them so much.
